Activate media feature pack on Windows 11

Ensuring our DTS.exe software functions smoothly on Windows 11 may require the installation or activation of the Media Feature Pack. This guide will walk you through the steps needed to enable this essential component, which is crucial for proper webcam and media functionality. Follow the instructions below to ensure your webinar software is set up correctly and ready for use.

Step-by-step guide to install or activate Media Feature Pack on Windows 11



Check Windows edition



Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.
Go to System > About.
Check your Windows edition under Windows specifications. If you have a Windows N edition, you need to install the Media Feature Pack.

Open optional features



Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.
Navigate to Apps > Optional features.

Add a feature



Click on the View features button under the Add an optional feature section.

Search for Media Feature Pack



In the search box, type Media Feature Pack.
Check the box next to Media Feature Pack.

Install Media Feature Pack



Click Next and then click Install.
Wait for the installation to complete. This may take a few minutes.

Restart your computer



After the installation is complete, restart your computer to apply the changes.

Verify installation



After restarting, you can verify that the Media Feature Pack is installed by going back to Settings > Apps > Optional features and checking if Media Feature Pack is listed under the installed features.

Troubleshooting



If DTS.exe still doesn't start or show the webcam, try the following steps.

Update your webcam drivers



Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
Expand the Cameras or Imaging devices section.
Right-click on your webcam and select Update driver.
Choose Search automatically for updated driver software and follow the prompts.

Check privacy settings



Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.
Go to Privacy & security > Camera.
Ensure that Camera access is turned on for your device and for apps.
Make sure Allow desktop apps to access your camera is also turned on.

Re-download and re-launch DTS.exe



Uninstall the current installation of DTS.exe.
Download the latest version from the MyOwnConference website.
Install it again and check if the issue is resolved.
