Configuring Google DNS on Windows 11



To enhance your internet experience with faster and more secure DNS resolution, you can configure your Windows 11 PC to use Google's DNS servers. Below are the step-by-step instructions for setting up both IPv4 and IPv6 DNS addresses for Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections.

For Wi-Fi connection



— Open settings



Press "Windows + I" to open the Settings app.



Navigate to "Network & Internet" from the left-hand menu.



— Access Wi-Fi settings



Select "Wi-Fi" and then click on "Hardware properties."



— Modify DNS server assignment



Click on the "Edit" button next to "DNS server assignment."
From the dropdown menu, choose the "Manual" option.




— Input DNS addresses



For IPv4:

Preferred DNS: 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS: 8.8.4.4




For IPv6:

Preferred DNS: 2001:4860:4860::8888
Alternate DNS: 2001:4860:4860::8844




— Save changes



Click "Save" to apply the new DNS settings.

For Ethernet connection



— Open settings



Press "Windows + I" to access the Settings app.
Navigate to "Network & Internet" from the left-hand menu.

— Access Ethernet Settings



Select "Ethernet" and scroll down to "DNS server assignment."

— Modify DNS server assignment



Click on the "Edit" button next to "DNS server assignment."

For IPv4:

Preferred DNS: 8.8.8.8
